There are many wild life sanctuaries in India whose areas extend over several thousands of square kms, where wild life can be observed in their natural sorroundings.

GIR NATIONAL PARK situated in Gujarat, cover about 259 sq.km, with low hills and meandering river.Park is open from end Oct. to June.This is the only surviving home of the Asian Lion.

RANTHAMBORE NATIONAL PARK is situated in Rajasthan. It lies on a junction of the Aravalli and Vindhya Hills, and covers 389 sq.km. The park is open from 1 October to end June and most famous as one of the country's best known tiger reserves.

CORBETT NATIONAL PARK is located in Uttar Pradesh and set in the foothills of the Himalaya, with in area of 518 sq.km. The park is open from mid November to mid June. The park has a significant population of tigers.

BHARATPUR BIRD SANCTUARY is situated in Rajasthan and Covers 29 sq.km of swamps and marshes. It is considered to be the biggest bird sanctuariy in Asia.The santurary is open round the year.But the best time to visit the park is from october to March when the sanctuary teems with birdlife.

SIMILIPAL NATIONAL PARK,about 2750 sq km expanse , in the state of orissa is the largest national park in India.similipal records the maximum number of tigers population among all other parks in india.Besides tigers, leopards, elephants, mugger crocodiles, and numerous reptiles abound here.Over 230 species of birds have also made their homes amongst its forests and waterways.Apart from the wonderful wildlife ,tourists can get an excellent bonus of lush valleys and forest lands.Best time to visit -November to June.

BHITARKANIKA NATIONAL PARK,located in the country's second largest mangrove forest in orissa's coastal belt, has protected the estuarine crocodile .Further down at Gahirmatha, the Giant Olive Redley sea Turtles travelling annually from South america come to nest by millions.It is also home of numerous migratory birds.This park has drawn world wide attention for being one of the biggest ground for mass nesting of Redley sea turtles-an unusual sight to watch..Best time to visit-October to April.

NALABANA BIRD SANCTUARY(CHILKA LAKE)Spread over an area of 1100 sq.kms , Chilka lake,is the largest brackish water lake in Asia.Winter is the lovliest time at Chilka , with lakhs of migratory birds, flying in from as far as Siberia to make their winter sojourn in strange waters.Here you can also see Dolphins gambol playfully in the foam of the churning waters.

KANHA NATIONAL PARK is laocated in Madhya pradesh and covers around 650 sq.km This is one of the best known national parks in India. The park is open from November to June.

BANDHAVGARH NATIONAL PARK is also situated in Madhya Pradesh, covers 453 sq.km, the park is open from November to early July.

SARISKA NATIONAL PARK is situated in Rajasthan , and comprised dry decidious forest of ber, dhok and tendu, set in a valley surrounded by the barren Aravalli hills. Park is open all year round. Best time Nov. to April.
